Mindfulness: The path to wisdom.
I would like to highlight two complementary aspects of mindfulness that should be differentiated, acknowledged, and integrated in our daily practise. On the one hand I refer to cultivating attention, the cognitive aspect, which is relating to the experience of the present, moment by moment. On the other hand, the affective part of mindfulness is compassion, which is the way we relate not only with the experience, but also with the experiencer. For someone who works with the body, it´s generally easy to be aware of one´s own body, it´s movements and functioning, But in my opinion, it´s not only about being mindful of the moving body. The practitioner has to integrate the two aspects, the cognitive and the affective, in her daily life. This integration will guide us to the path of wisdom, the highest way of leading a purposeful life.
